GFLTC returned to the 66th H&R; Train Show in full force. The roughly 3' x 55' display took up the entire back wall of the tent, and was the longest display the club has done using the old wooden cases. This is also the first show where all of the track inside the cases was ballasted and all battery-powered trains were used. (pic. 1.)
James B, Robin W, David G, and myself all showed up on Thursday to setup and assemble the cases. I had two cases to display my housing district, James took three cases to display his modulars, Robin had 2 1/2 cases to showcase his shopping district and embassy suites, and three open tables were used for yards.
The show ran great all weekend. Judging occurred Friday night, and awards were Saturday morning. James took first in "Individual Module", Robin took first in "Novelty", I took second in "Restoration" (With my non-LEGO American Flyer), I took first in "Super Detail Locomotives/Cars" with my LEGO 2-8-4 Berkshire (The first time a LEGO train has managed to win this category), and the club took first overall in the "Club Class". Nice weather and good turnout made the show very pleasant. If you missed out, hopefully we get to see you at one of our upcoming shows!
